AMEB will launch a new platform for online exams and courses on Monday 29 January 2018. In the two weeks from 15 January 2018 you will not be able to buy or undertake an exam or course. We appreciate your patience while we complete our build of our best practice examination and learning centre and we apologise for any inconvenience this causes.
You will be able to do this from Monday 29 January 2018.
All unexpired exams and courses will be valid in the new system. In fact we will give you an extra two months on your expiry date to allow you to familiarise yourself with the system prior to taking an exam (however no expiry dates will be extended beyond 31 December 2018).
Yes. When the new system is launched you will receive an email (to the email address registered by your Account Holder) with a new key and a link directing you to your course or exam.
You will be issued with a new exam key with a two-month expiry date when the new system is launched.
The current Online Examination Centre uses a program called Director and a plug-in called Shockwave. This technology is no longer being supported by most browsers and is creating usability issues for our customers. The browser version of our new platform will be launched using HTML5, which is the recommended technology for this type of system and will greatly enhance usability and customer experience.
As of 2018 there have been some minor changes to the Creative questions in Theory of Music Grades 3, 4, 5 and 6. To see these changes click here. Other than this we are not changing any of our written theory syllabuses, we are just improving the way we deliver online examinations for Theory of Music, Musicianship and Music Craft.
We’ve worked hard to make the exams function in a more logical manner for an online environment. The exams will look a little different to the way they’ve looked in the past. Some of the functionality will be slightly different, questions may be asked in a different way eg broken into more sections. That is why we are giving you an extra two months to complete your exam – plenty of time to engage with and learn to love the new platform.
Yes, but not immediately. The initial launch of the system will require users to download software onto their PC or Mac in order to complete an examination. In the coming months, we will launch a web browser version that will enable candidates to study and complete their examinations in a browser and this will be compatible with tablets, smart phones and other mobile devices.
Yes. If you use AMEB Connect you will now be able to buy exams and courses and manage them within your AMEB Connect log in.
Yes, we will still offer our written annual examination sitting in 2018. Please contact your State Office for more information or to enrol for this.
Yes, in fact the Theory Courses will be expanded to include Grade 3 Theory of Music. So from 29 January 2018 courses for Grades 1-3 Theory of Music will be available in the new Online Exam and Learning Centre. Further courses may be made available later in the year.
The content will be similar but the delivery is quite different. Each Lesson is delivered by video. Once you have watched each Video Lesson you will be able to follow a link and undertake tests to see how well you understood the concepts delivered in the Lesson.
